Weekly Use Your Stuff Challenge

It seems all I'm managing to get up on this blog lately are the weekly UYS challenges. And even then, they're not all making it. Between my photography class, upgrading my computer and Christmas preparations, there doesn't seem to be much time for scrapbooking.

This week on the UYS blog, Barb challenged us to use this ad as a starting off point for our project:

I really like this ad. In fact, I really like most things from the Real Simple magazine!! I like the simplicity and clean lines. I chose to do a page about our annual end-of-the-summer trip to The Ex. I flipped the ad on its side, but basically left it the same.

How will you challenge yourself this week?

Weekly Use Your Stuff Challenge

This week on the Use Your Stuff Challenge blog, Tammy challenged us all to do a project featuring snow. That's not a hard one for me. I love the winter and I love the snow. However, the only photos I had were of a car accident we were in a few years ago on a very snowy day, so here it is:

There are snow many opportunities for good snowy projects!! What will you do?

Weekly Use Your Stuff Challenge

This week's challenge was to limit the supplies you used on your project. I took this quite literally and created an extremely simple page. I used just my photo, some plain cardstock and a single digital stamp across the bottom of the page.

Very simple indeed!! This is the cover page for our New York trip album that I hope to complete one day!!

Check out the Use Your Stuff blog to see what some of the other members did. They managed to create some very seriously beautiful stuff using limited supplies.

What will you create?

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

First of all, I'd like to welcome our 4 (yes, 4!) new Creative Team Members on the Use Your Stuff blog. I'm very excited to see what they all manage to create. Be sure to check out their work here, here, here and here. Welcome Amanda, Tammy, Julie and Isbaha!!! Of course, having new members does mean we've had to say goodbye to one. Goodbye Joy. We'll miss you!!

This week's challenge over on the Use Your Stuff blog was hosted by me. I challenged everyone to use a little bling on their projects. I didn't think it was hard to do and judging by the response I was right!!

Here's my layout.

It's put me in a snowy sort of mood. I can't wait for winter to arrive!!

What will you make sparkle this week?

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

The challenge this week on the Use Your Stuff Blog was to do a food related challenge. I did this page about my youngest daughter and her friend and her love of baking. Isobel got a cake pop maker for Christmas and couldn't wait to make up a batch with a friend. They were yummy.

What food related project have you been wanting to do?

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

The challenge this week over on the Use Your Stuff blog was to use heat embossing on your project. I tried and tried and tried to come up with something but I'm not much of a heat embosser.

Then I realized I have a very talented sister who does a lot of heat embossing. She makes the most beautiful cards!

So, I used one of her cards.

Isn't it gorgeous? So much better than anything I would have come up with!!

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

Hello!! I'm back. The summer has been whizzing by and unfortunately the blog has fallen to the bottom of the list of things to do. I have been doing the Weekly Challenges over on the Use Your Stuff Blog but I haven't managed to post them here. Until this week.

This weeks' challenge was by Joy. As usual she really made us stretch our creative muscles. She put together a 'Recipe Challenge'. She gave us a list of 'ingredients' and we were to create a project with those specific supplies. Her recipe included mist or paint, some texture and a quote. When I first saw this challenge I was excited and really wanted to create a canvas but time marched on and by the time I realized by project was due it was the day before and I just barely managed to get a page done. Perhaps next time I'll manage to do a canvas.

Here's my page. I put some texture paste through a template then misted it and the rest of the page. The quote is by E.E. Cummings and the photo was taken of Meredith at a bake sale. I just love the way her face scrunches up when she laughs.

Thanks so much for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your summer.

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

I'm a little late with this one. Over on the Use Your Stuff Blog, the challenge for the week was to use Washi Tape on your project. I must admit, I did  not do this project specifically for this challenge, but thought it was appropriate.

Dave bought me a Moleskine Travel Journal for our summer vacation (more on that later - it was spectacular!). The cover was plain black and I thought it was a little boring so I jazzed it up with some Washi. I also covered the tabs inside with Washi and coordinated the design on the tape with each leg of the trip. I love me a decorated notebook!!! I even took Washi on the trip with me so that when I recorded the details of our days I could decorate the page with the right Washi. I think I have a little too much time on my hands.

Here it is:

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

Well, it's that time again!! Time for another challenge over on the Use Your Stuff Blog. This week Barb challenged us to use flags on a page. Not an easy one for me. I've never used flags on a page before! I misted my page and mixed and matched papers from Simple Stories and Basic Grey and used some stickers and brads from My Mind's Eye. The flags were in the sticker pack and I misted some toothpicks to use as the flagpoles. I really enjoyed making this page and will definitely use flags again.

Thanks for the challenge Barb!

UYS Challenge

It seems all I'm getting around to posting these days are my Use Your Stuff pages. I have a bunch of ideas rolling around my head, I just need to find the time (and the motivation) to sit down at my computer and bang them all out. But for now, you're stuck with another UYS page.

This week on the UYS Blog, our newest member, Sarah, challenged us all to do a summer related project. I love doing summer pages, they always put me in a happy mood.

I did this page about Isobel. We were at Rocky Crest just waiting to pick Meredith up from camp. I love her smile and the pop of orange from her life vest.

I hope you'll head on over to The Use Your Stuff blog and join us in welcoming Sarah. We'd love to see your summer page too!!

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

I’m a little behind in my posting right now. I’ve got some Project Life pages on the go, but I had to pause the playing for a fantastic 4 day getaway with some scrappin’ friends to the Great Lakes Mega Meet in Novi Michigan. There was shopping, scrapbooking classes, eating, laughing and of course, more shopping!! A great time was had by all.
In the midst of all the fun, I had time to contribute to the weekly Use Your Stuff Challenge Blog. This weeks’ challenge was to focus on flowers. This was not a hard one for me. I use flowers all the time.

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

Normally I am the queen of the easy scrapbook page. I like to get to it and get it done. However, I love the look of pages with a more artistic feel. When Barb told us that this week’s challenge was to add texture, my first response was to do the page digitally. Which I did.

I thought about it a little more and decided I really should be a bit more creative and do my page the dirty old fashioned way. I love the look of all the multi media art projects out there and figured this was a good way to start. I had no idea what I was doing. I gathered up some supplies and misted my paper, put some of my Glass Beads Texture Gel in a bowl, added a bit more mist and swirled it all together.
The photo for this page was taken in 2009 and the smiles on my girls faces perfectly sums up the differences in their personalities!! Here’s my finished page:

Thanks for the challenge Barb. I really enjoyed it.

This week on the Use Your Stuff blog, Lynne challenged us to get into spring by using pastels on a project. Here's my layout:

Have a great day!!

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

Well, it's Monday again and time for another Weekly Challenge over on the Use Your Stuff Blog. This week Joy challenged us to use the lyrics of a song in our project.

Last fall, Meredith was invited to a couple of parties. One was a Zombie Halloween Party and the other, a Tacky Christmas Shirt Party. (Her shirt wasn't very tacky, but it was the closest we could get!!) Generally, she's a homebody, but I think she really enjoyed getting dressed up and heading out for the night. I chose to use a title from an old Rick James/Eddie Murphy song. Do you remember this one?
