Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

This week on the Use Your Stuff blog, Lynne challenged us to use one dominant geometric shape (not circles!) on our layout. I realize I do have a couple of circles on there and I hope that's okay. Mostly though I have triangles.

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

It was my turn to post the challenge this week over on the Use Your Stuff blog. I decided to make it a tool challenge. Dig into your stash and grab that tool you bought and barely used!! I used my Creative Memories wavy cutter but I can think of half a dozen other tools I could use as well. Which tool did you buy and never use? Does anyone remember the Blade Runner? I went all the way to the US to buy mine!!

Here's my page for this week:

Project Life Weeks 18 & 19

I've fallen a little behind but I always seem to catch up! I really think the key to this for me is simplicity, so I apologize if the pages seem the same from one week to the next, but that's what they need to be to get done!!

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

I’m a little behind in my posting right now. I’ve got some Project Life pages on the go, but I had to pause the playing for a fantastic 4 day getaway with some scrappin’ friends to the Great Lakes Mega Meet in Novi Michigan. There was shopping, scrapbooking classes, eating, laughing and of course, more shopping!! A great time was had by all.
In the midst of all the fun, I had time to contribute to the weekly Use Your Stuff Challenge Blog. This weeks’ challenge was to focus on flowers. This was not a hard one for me. I use flowers all the time.

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

Normally I am the queen of the easy scrapbook page. I like to get to it and get it done. However, I love the look of pages with a more artistic feel. When Barb told us that this week’s challenge was to add texture, my first response was to do the page digitally. Which I did.

I thought about it a little more and decided I really should be a bit more creative and do my page the dirty old fashioned way. I love the look of all the multi media art projects out there and figured this was a good way to start. I had no idea what I was doing. I gathered up some supplies and misted my paper, put some of my Glass Beads Texture Gel in a bowl, added a bit more mist and swirled it all together.
The photo for this page was taken in 2009 and the smiles on my girls faces perfectly sums up the differences in their personalities!! Here’s my finished page:

Thanks for the challenge Barb. I really enjoyed it.

Scrap Your Story Challenge

I found myself at home, waiting for a serviceman today and figured I would use the time to participate in a challenge over on ScrapYour Story for the first time. Since I’ve been doing the challenges on the UseYour Stuff blog, I’m learning that these challenges are a great way to get some pages done.

This week’s challenge on Scrap Your Story was to include at least two sentences of journaling on your page. This one was easy peasy for me. Almost all of my pages include journaling of some sort.

I had lots of photos of Isobel and her recent Origami Obsession and thought those would make a good page. The photos here barely scrape the surface of all the shapes she has crafted out of a single sheet of paper. My favourite are the hummingbird and flower shown in the single photo on the right.

Awesome. Another page completed.

Don't forget to check back here tomorrow for my Project Life Giveaway!! Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day!
